The Debate Over Prince Harry as a Role Model: A Closer Look.

As for whether or not Prince Harry is a good role model, opinions will vary. Some may point to his charitable work, including his founding of the Invictus Games for wounded servicemen and women, as evidence of his positive influence. Others may criticize certain decisions he has made, such as the choice to step back from his royal duties and move to the United States. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to make their own assessment based on the available information and their own values.

Read to the end because I also give five tips for choosing a good role model.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle publicly left the British royal family some years ago. The media dubbed the exit as Megxit.

Since that time, with this couple, there has been one public drama after another. And one controversy after another.

Although many people are critical of Megan and Harry, others revere and adore them and follow them as role models.

Reportedly, most of their faithful followers are between 12 and 25. I would like to know how the statistics are gathered or if the statics are accurate. Allegedly, a group of people called ‘sugars’ work for them and defended them fiercely. These people follow them, hanging on to their every action and word.

Harry’s Popularity

Role models are usually famous and often popular people. Their fame and popularity give them a high profile, drawing others to follow them as role models.

Here are the latest statics from YouGovUK concerning the popularity of Prince Harry.

New figures represent a stark change for the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, from the Diamond Jubilee in 2012. Ten years ago, only one in ten people, 10%, saw Harry as a bad role model. So 90% viewed him as a good role model. In recent years the proportion who think he is a good role model has dropped to 31%.

Recently, more influencers and celebrities are calling Harry and Megan out for being less than honest. They have been accused of laziness and hoodwinking the public on several counts. But it appears as the opposition increases, the support increases.

Bad Influence?

Experts have ridiculed Prince Harry’s status as a ‘role model’ and believe him to be a bad influence on the young.

Reportedly, author CJ Pearson, to Newsweek, talked about Prince Harry as a role model to men. He believes, “My generation of young men deserves better role models than Prince Harry?—?regardless of how hard the media tries to make him one.”

Pearson continues, Harry was born into a life of incomparable privilege. He grew up in the gilded halls of Kensington Palace and knew a life that few could ever imagine. Then surprisingly, Harry renounced it all, purportedly for love. And in doing so, he also denounced his country, scoffed at tradition, and estranged his family. Yet somehow, for some reason, this makes him a role model in the eyes of the world, the writer pointed out.

Before concluding, the author added, “While Prince Harry may be the media’s darling, he is no role model for my generation. Or rather, we deserve better role models than Prince Harry.”

The Dilemma

Supporters of Prince Harry appreciate his openness about his past experiences with drug use. They feel that Harry’s honesty has helped to raise awareness about addiction and mental health.

Some might view Harry’s honesty as a sign of strength and resilience. At the same time, others might question his judgment or character based on his past behaviour. Whatever our opinion, it’s essential to recognise that addiction is a disease and a mental health issue. To seek help and support is hard and a sign of courage and strength.

While some might criticise him for his past behaviour, it’s important to remember that addiction is a complex and challenging issue affecting people from all walks of life. I wonder if Prince Harry considered if his admissions have influenced people somehow.

Harry and Meghan’s Suitability as Role Models

There are several reasons why some people might question Harry and Meghan’s suitability as role models.

One factor could be the scrutiny directed towards them as high-profile public figures, which can lead to a lack of privacy and intense media attention. Harry is involved in six litigations, which may send a negative or a positive image of a role model- depending on your point of view.

Additionally, some might criticise Harry and Meghan for their apparent willingness to “cash in” on their royal status or their perceived lack of loyalty to their families.

They have been vocal about their disaffection with the traditional royal lifestyle and have pursued business ventures and media projects outside the royal institution’s confines.

They both have estranged their families, and loyal friends appear to be few.

However, it’s important to note that everyone has opinions about what makes a good role model. Many factors contribute to someone being seen as a positive influence. Ultimately, it’s up to everyone to decide whether Harry and Meghan are good role models for themselves or others.

Influencers are Role Models

Whether we realise it or not, we are influenced by those around us. For our personal growth, we need to be influenced by people of integrity.

It is easy to follow the crowd and be influenced by famous people. We want to be part of a community, be on the team, and follow the influencers that others do.

But it is advantageous to choose our role models with knowledge and understanding. We should know the truth about those we allow to influence our lives.

Here are five tips to help you to choose good role models:

Tip 1. Identify your interest in choosing our role models with knowledge and understanding. We should know the truth about those we allow to influence our lives. You can look for role models whose lives and accomplishments align with your aspirations.

Tip 2. Look for people who demonstrate good character: Rather than just looking for successful people, look for role models who demonstrate assertive, ethical behaviour and integrity in all areas of their lives. People who model humility, kindness, and respect for others can be excellent role models.

Tip 3. Choose to follow people who are accomplished in your chosen field. If you’re seeking role models to guide you in a particular area, choose established experts or highly successful people in that field. Research their achievements, publications, and accomplishments to see if they align with what you hope to achieve.

Tip 4. Consider their passions and purposes: Role models who live out their passions and purposes can be powerful motivators to help you pursue your passions. Look for people who have made a difference in the world and are using their platform for a cause or purpose that resonates with you.

Tip 5. Follow their example and lead by example: Once you have found good role models, take the time to observe their actions and behaviours and think about how you can apply their example to your own life. Always strive to lead by example and positively influence those around you.

We all influence the lives of others in some way. Choosing a good role model will help with your personal development and well-being. They rub off onto you, so choose wisely.
